Love PDQ Bach .
Just like R&R , sometimes Classical live performances/recordings have and extra life to them . Some performers are over careful in the studio, but live "get religion" . One of the complaints about modern classical players is that they are too note perfect, and lack interpretive insight or "soul" .
I am a little surprised on the overdubs on the RS album, but not totally . If you want to here a great not perfect really live album . The Jerry Lee Lewis Star Club album !

Our boys were rarely "perfect", but I think all of us here know they had "something" that many much more together and proficient musicians never seem to get a hold of . Thus, we don't mind all the imperfections, and lameness , and long as we got those soulful moments . I tell non Dead people, that with the Grateful Dead, sometimes it is like eating crab; you gotta get through a lot of shell to get at the meat . But the meat is so good, we put up with shell .
